My name is Dane Kurtz, and I know a lot about one thing- nonprofits. I studied nonprofit leadership in college, and I've been working for nonprofits for over 7 years. I see first hand what the major needs of nonprofits are, which is why when I'm not working for a nonprofit, I'm working for all nonprofits, creating tools that will help them thrive.
Online giving has been around for at least 10 years now, and every online giving service looks and feels almost exactly the same as it did 10 years ago. Someone interested in giving online clicks "give now," or "donate" and they are taken to a page that asks them to enter in a bunch of info...they chose an amount and send. It's like working on a flip phone - functional but sterile. So a few of us- all passionate about building a better online giving tool started building. After a year of perfecting, Spora was born.
Spora was released just a few weeks ago, and we've had nothing but excitement from our users about how great the giving experience is. We have incorporated a giving meter, which means now givers can see the difference they make when they click "send," and the meter moves. We've integrated Social media sharing links which means givers can share the need they just met on Facebook or Twitter and become an even greater advocate for their nonprofit. All of these new features mean that givers get to feel even better when they give, making them more likely to give again.
